Utah

To start off, it’s got views the whole time you’re there even when you’re still on the plane because it’s at the bottom of a huge valley of mountains that surrounds them at literally all sides

Once I landed I got picked up and was driving in the dark and was trying to look through the clouds off into the distance until I realised that the clouds I was trying to stare through were in fact not clouds but were actually fucking GIANT MOUNTAINS that were towering in front of me that I was simply not capable of processing as a basic Canadian with no experience in Utah’s insane topography. I was not fucking ready. I hadn’t even been there hours before literally exclaiming ‘Oh, those are mountains! Holy fuck, what?’ lmao.

You get an idea for how easy it is to mix up the snow caps and clouds in 3am darkness in this picture despite it being taken very much at not 3am darkness. This is a view from down the street where people just LIVE. Like it’s not a scenic view this is just their fucking LIFE.

This is a view from the bedroom I stayed in at my friends HOUSE where you can still see all the stupid amazing beautiful goddamned mountains in the background and you get to wake up to that bullshit every day. They’re even being shy in this photo and you can still see them clearly above the horizon line. It actually emotionally devastated me slightly. There’s so much amazing American food like we talked about but there’s a local bakery called Kneaders which has the most amazing cinnamon buns made fresh every day that I would honestly probably fistfight a man over. They are so good and I miss It.t

This is the view from the street where you can get an amazing burger at Salt City Burger and watch the sun set over the mountains — and since the mountains are so damn tall in any direction it sets like over an hour earlier than anywhere at the same place longitudinally in the US which is kinda cool. Also the burgers here are amazing and Utahns are OBSESSED with ranch lmfao so you will see EXTREME amounts of that anywhere you go for food.

Here’s another lazy shot of my friend’s commute to work every day down this road. Like are you fuckin kidding? Come on. Feels like the rest of the world is hardly trying.

To get out of the ‘bowl’ of Utah you can drive to 2 places on either side of the bowl, and it is LITERALLY this ‘sharp’ to get out of it, cut directly through the mountains.

It quickly turns into beautiful landscape (red rocks!!!!) like this. And keeps getting more and more red as you continue. The drive is incredible and I love driving so it was a great drive for me.

There’s lots of national treasures at the national parks and lots of huge hikes you can go on and in April they’re like the perfect temperature even for a desert (around 20c) which is the best. Warm and cozy.

Tell me that shit isn’t for real. Those aren't stock photos, I took them all. Simply insane. This state is insanely beautiful.

Oh, and this is my other friend’s driveway. Like, he just lives here and walks out to this every morning:
